engage & initiate

Are you part of a creative network that is politically engaged and socially sensitive? Are you in need of giving platform to underrepresented voices through subjective cartography? We are looking for new collaborations to counter-map our worlds.

Personal involvement as the starting point to produce human, unconventional and disarming maps

2.
connect & organise

As a producer (P) you coordinate the creative process, engage cultural and educational institutes (I), collaborate with designers (D) and help finding the needed resources (). As Subjective Editions (SE) we support you in this process, assist with the planning, map logistics, guide the process, and share our knowhow.

The inhabitants of a place get the agency to map their reality, they’re invited by a local network who work with the methodology of Subjective Editions

invite & map

The local team invites artists, designers and other creative people (A) to map their environment from a personal perspective; through maps, graphs, inventories, flags and drawings. The team guides, collects, co-designs and refines the contributions.

We provide support in methodology, conceptual framework and design-templates.

4.
editing & design

Together we form the editorial team and sharpen the final selection of your Subjective Atlas, and invite an author who puts the content in perspective. We share the atlas-in-the-making a couple of times with all the contributors, to develop the content collectively. Until the editor and designer can do the final correction rounds.

production & publishing

The final file will be printed and published by Subjective Editions, as a paperback and e-book. We will promote and distribute the atlases through our professional channels.

We publish under creative-commons, to allow the work to reach new contexts for broader impact, and support the reproduction of the works at like-minded platforms.

6.
presenting & promotion

The local team will present the atlas to their publics, launch the book and they have the opportunity to set up engaging events. They will support local distribution, write the press and allow the book to spread to people and places of value.

The atlas as a powerful series of alternative cartographies, can now serve as an inspiring, publicly available tool to critically question the apparent objective

distribution & transformation

The atlas will be available in bookshops and via webshops. The content can now be spread, stories can carry on further and works will be re-produced in new contexts — to feed vibrant visual conversations about who we are and how we relate to the places we inhabit.
