Brussels, a cosmopolitan city par excellence, is a life-size laboratory for issues related to diversity and inclusion. How can we guarantee equal opportunities in such a diverse space? What policies should be adopted for a more inclusive society, whether in terms of disability, access to employment, or education? These questions will be at the heart of the conference "Brussels, Diversity & Inclusion," organized by UCLouvain Saint-Louis Brussels as part of the Rencontres bruxelloises.
We were honoured to be part of the two day symposium with a selection of pages of the Subjective Atlas of Brussels, with a focus on contributions that touch upon migrant experiences in the city. The Subjective Atlas of Brussels investigates how maps can reflect and reshape relationships by offering visual and creative alternatives for perceiving and documenting the urban space we inhabit and its stories. Through this display, Subjective Editions invites viewers to engage with Brussels as a layered and contested territory—one that is continually shaped by its residents, their histories, their movements, their struggles, and their imaginations.
